NYAutoInspection.com is an independent information site. For official answers, official forms, or anything that requires an actual government response, you need to go straight to the DMV. Their website is at dmv.ny.gov.

The Calculator Gives Estimates, Not Guarantees

The calculator on our homepage uses the published NY DMV fee chart (form VS-77) and the published inspection rules. It is built to be accurate as of the day it was made. But please remember:

• The calculator shows the maximum price a shop can charge. Real prices can be lower.
• Your real situation may have details the calculator does not capture.
• Rules and fees can change. Our calculator may not have the very latest data.
• The calculator does not include repair costs if your car fails inspection.

Treat the calculator as a smart starting point, not the final word.

Information Can Be Out of Date

New York's inspection rules, fees, and emissions standards can change. The DMV updates these from time to time. We try to update the site when changes happen, but there can be a delay.

If you see a difference between what is on this site and what the DMV says, the DMV is right and we are wrong. Please email us if you spot something out of date.
